What is Juvederm?

Juvederm was created by the makers of Botox, and this product provides smooth, long-lasting correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Dermal fillers are used to restore volume and fullness to the skin, giving a healthy youthful appearance.

Juvederm contains the highest concentration of non-animal cross-linked hyaluronic acid of any dermal filler. Hyaluronic Acid is a natural complex sugar found in all living cells, it retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1000 times its weight. This helps to attract and maintain water, hydrating your skin and increasing its volume and density.

How is a Juvederm treatment performed?

Juvederm is administered in a smooth flowing injection, allowing your provider a high level of control for individualized, tailored facial contouring and for achieving a smooth natural look. This procedure is simple and quick, and the results are practically instantaneous. Procedures can be painless with topical anesthesia and dental blocks.

How long does Juvederm last?

Juvederm typically lasts up to 1 year.

What areas can be treated by Juvederm?

Juvederm is most commonly used to correct smile lines, nasolabial folds(parentheses) and marionette lines. It can also help to define the lip border, and give an appearance of a fuller lip.

What are the side effects?

The most commonly reported side effects are temporary injection site redness, swelling, pain, tenderness and bruising. Patients who are using substances that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin or ibuprofen as with any injection, may experience increased bruising or bleeding at injection site. You should inform your practitioner before treatment if you are using these types of substances. As with all skin injection procedures there is a risk of infection. Juvederm should not be used in patients who have multiple severe allergies, or history of anaphylaxis. Juvederm should not be used during pregnancy or breast feeding.

FOR
DERMAL FILLERS

Redness and swelling may persist for 3 to 4 days. Occasional bruising may also occur. Don’t have any important events planned for the following week or two (due to possible bruising).
Avoid touching the treated area for 6 hours. Avoid sun/heat exposure until swelling and redness subsides.
Avoid exercise and alcohol for 6 hours after treatment.Cold outdoor activities need to be avoided until redness and swelling subsides.
If your lips were injected and if you suffer from cold sores, there is a risk that the needle puncture may precipitate an outbreak. Your practitioner may need to prescribe the appropriate antiviral medicine.
Having a follow-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect. Please be sure to consult your practitioner about recommendations for touch-up or follow-up treatments.
